Val Chmerkovskiy Explains Nastia Liukin And Derek Hough Diss: “I Have Nothing But Respect For Them”
Val Chmerkovskiy is trying to clear the air after dissing his “Dancing With The Stars” co-stars Derek Hough and Nastia Liukin in a taped package that aired on Tuesday. Chmerkovskiy tweeted an apology on Wednesday after he came under fire for his comments about the now-eliminated dancing pair.
During the “Dancing With The Stars” semifinals, Chmerkovskiy said in a pre-taped video segment that Liukin and Hough were “so perfect that it makes them a bit uninteresting.” Apparently, Hough took issue with the jab, telling Glamour that he approached his co-star after the show aired to confront him about the comment. “I heard him and I went up to him afterwards and was like, ‘Thanks. Classy, bro. Classy,'” said Hough.
On Tuesday night, Chmerkovskiy tweeted that he had explained his remark to Liukin and Hough in person but on Wednesday, in a series of tweets, he offered the pair an apology. “OK look I just have to address this because I gotta get it off my chest. Even if I don’t have to I want to. My comment last night was taken out of context,” wrote Chmerkovskiy, adding, “And furthermore is very far from the truth. Everyone works extremely hard to be ‘perfect’ and I would never take that away from them. I have nothing but the utmost respect for them as a couple, him as a teacher, and her as a person… and btw they know that.”
As Gossip Cop reported, Liukin and Hough were voted off “Dancing With The Stars” on Tuesday, leaving Rumer Willis and Chmerkovskiy, Riker Lynch and Allison Holker, and Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess to battle it out for the Golden Mirror Ball trophy.
