Usain Bolt 200-Meter Semifinal At Rio Olympics 2016 (VIDEO)
Usain Bolt competed in the men’s 200-meter semifinals at the Rio Olympics on Wednesday. Of course, he qualified for tomorrow night’s final event. Watch below!
Widely considered the fastest man in the world, Bolt’s place in the gold medal final was never in doubt. Still, as followers of the sport know, he’s an entertaining figure to watch. The Jamaican athlete is confident on the warm-up track, diligent as he prepares to start, and then makes the race look easy, even when he seems too far back to possibly win.
But win he usually does. At both the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, Bolt took the gold in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and the 4×100-meter events. Now the sprinter is on his way to doing so again at the 2016 games.
As Gossip Cop reported, Bolt already won gold in the 100-meter race last Sunday. He made history, too. The victory made him the first athlete to win the race at three consecutive Olympics.
For tonight’s semifinals, Bolt placed first in the second of three races, against competitors representing Canada, Cuba, Nigeria, Great Britain and more. Team USA’s Justin Gatlin, one of the biggest threats, ran in the third semifinal race, and actually failed to qualify for the final. No matter, now all that counts is what happens when Bolt goes for gold on Thursday night. Check out full video of his semifinal run below!
