Three eighth graders who comprise a metal band called Unlocking The Truth have signed a record deal with Sony that could pay them as much as $1.7 million.
Not too shabby for the New York rockers — 13-year-olds Malcolm Brickhouse (guitarist) and Alec Atkins (bassist), and 12-year-old Jarad Dawkins (drums) — who got their start busking on sidewalks and in parks.
The trio has a guaranteed two-album deal that pays a reported $60,000 on the first album, $350,000 on the second, and a total of $1.7 million if Sony keeps picking up options for four additional albums.
They’ve already played at Coachella and have scored other gigs across the country after being discovered in Washington Square Park by Grammy winner Steve Jordan in 2012.
Now they could be on the brink of something really big.
