Tyga: I “Don’t Understand” Criticism Over Kylie Jenner Age Difference (VIDEO)
Tyga opened up about his relationship with Kylie Jenner during a new interview, revealing how the two deal with the media making up stories about them, his thoughts on their age difference, and much more. Watch the video below!
The rapper stopped by 106 KMEL to promote his latest single “Baller Alert,” but he was also game to discuss his personal life. Tyga, of course, has been in an on-and off-again relationship with Jenner for quite some time. Because of the eight-year age difference between the two, and that they grew close while she was still a minor, their romance is often scrutinized in the media. “People just read headlines. People don’t actually look into stuff or break down people’s characters,” Tyga tells host Shay Diddy about how the press distorts his image.
But the rapper reveals that false tabloid stories aren’t “affecting my real life” or personal relationships, even though the “public perception might bother [me].” He adds, “I didn’t start making music to be on reality TV,” possibly referring to his appearance on this past season’s “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.”
Tyga further says that he and Jenner have learned to deal with the media together, noting, “It’s a lot… With me being older than her, I’ve been through a lot more things. I can kind of help her more with it, even though she’s been more in the tabloid-media limelight than I’ve been.” And when asked about those who criticize the age gap between him and Jenner, Tyga says, “It’s kind of hard to really talk about that because… I didn’t understand it.”
As for an example of a minor detail that the media got wrong, Tyga says he didn’t buy Jenner “gold grills” for Valentine’s Day. The rapper doesn’t divulge what he actually got Jenner, but assures, “We had a good day. She already had grills though… We got a bunch of grills made, but it wasn’t a Valentine’s gift.” Watch Tyga open up about his personal life in the interview below!
