Twitter Reacts: Anthony Weiner New Sexting Scandal
Anthony Weiner is involved in yet another sexting scandal, and Twitter is now mocking the disgraced congressman for getting caught with his pants down once again. See Twitter reactions below.
In June 2011, Weiner resigned from Congress after accidentally sharing naked pictures that he intended to privately send to a woman who was not his wife. And then in July 2013, his run for mayor of New York City abruptly ended when Weiner was caught sending nude photos of his penis to a 22-year-old woman using the Twitter alias “Carlos Danger.” The politician managed to avoid controversy until earlier this month, when his flirty online chat exchange with a college student was uncovered. But on Sunday, his misconduct escalated when he sent a mystery woman a suggestive photo of himself while his young son was in the bed beside him. On Monday morning, Weiner finally deleted his Twitter account in the wake of his third sexting mishap.
Social media users are now poking fun at Weiner’s seeming inability to learn from his mistakes. One person wrote, “Does Anthony Weiner still not understand how this whole technology thing works?” Another user asked, “Good god, Anthony Weiner, can’t you just control yourself for one damn election cycle?” And one person expressed, “Anthony Weiner isn’t funny or entertaining anymore. He’s just pathetic.”
Meanwhile, one Twitter user theorized, “Anthony Weiner would still be in The House if he’d just had an actual affair w/a mistress like a normal congressman.” Another person said, “Look. Anthony Weiner is clearly sick, but this stopped being news to me when he stopped running for office. Send him to rehab & be done.” And one user joked, “Every time Anthony Weiner’s sexts go public I feel so much disappointment. Mostly that he’s in way better shape than I am.”
Shortly following this latest sexting revelation, Weiner’s wife Huma Abedin announced in a statement she’s separating from her husband. “After long and painful consideration work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband,” Abdein said. “Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life. During this difficult time, I ask for respect for our privacy.”
