Twilight Stars and Producers Express Condolences After Fan’s Comic Con Death

Truth rating: 10

(Summit)

The producers and stars of the Twilight Saga series are speaking out after a fan died tragically on Tuesday as she headed to an upcoming San Diego Comic Con event.

The fan, identified only as Gisella G., had been waiting in line in anticipation for Thursday’s panel with the cast and crew of the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 when she temporarily left and was hit by a car while crossing the street.

After word spread of the terrible accident, several of the movie’s stars took to Twitter to express condolences.

“I’m so sorry to hear the deviating news about Gisella G. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends,” wrote Ashley Greene.

Jackson Rathbone tweeted, “#RIPTwihardG All our love and respect, and all our prayers.”

Added Nikki Reed, “This is horrible. So sad. I’m speechless.”

In joint statement from Lionsgate and Summit, producers said “the entire Twilight community [is] saddened by the death of a Comic Con fan today due to a traffic accident during the hours leading up to this year’s convention in San Diego. ”

“Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends.  She will be respectfully remembered this Thursday in Hall H” of Comic Con, the statement concludes.

So sad thoughts are with her family but I wonder what will happen to the driver? It truly seems like a tragic accident. I wonder if this woman was in a crosswalk? I know the driver said they didn’t see her but surely when someone is the crosswalk the light is red…confused on how this happened. Just reminds me life is so short here you are excited for comic con and the next you’re gone. I feel so bad for her family.

I’m not claiming to know anything, but if she temporarily left the line, she was probably in a hurry and quickly tried to cross the street, perhaps without looking and not necessarily at a crosswalk. I’m sure there’s so many people everywhere there it’s a bit chaotic.

I’m not speaking ill or anything, this definitely sounds like a very tragic accident. My thoughts are with her friends and family.

i read she wasnt hit by a car, she saw a car was coming and then tried to escape but stumbled herself in the hurry maybe and fell hitting her head on the pavement.

You aren’t speaking ill at all thank you the full details aren’t really posted here so I was confused as I’ve never been to comic con so I’m not sure about the layout or why lines were moved etc. I just imagine her family is wanting answers I hope they get them.

first i was not there, but reading the police reports in the area news paper, when she tripped she hit her head on a moving vehicle..that would cause severe trauma….if all she did was trip and hit her head on concrete or asphalt i would have to wonder if her head was repeatedly smashed against it.

  • Las38_2003_ark

my heart goes out to her family and the fans there….all she wanted to do was meet the actors and have a good time.

So very sad to hear about this. The lesson is that a person never knows when they may be about to live their last moments on earth, therefore enjoy every moment of your life. Don’t waste it on hate, arguments, being grumpy, etc. R.I.P. Twilight fan.

Nikki Reed also tweeted right after the accident, odd that message wasn’t included here.

She was trying to hurry back to the line after being informed that the security was moving them and she needed to get her stuff picked up. As she was heading back, she got across one part of the road and then the car came around the corner. She tried to avoid it but ended up stumbling and hitting her head (not sure if on the car or on the pavement)

It is a very tragic accident and we’ve lost one of the Twifamily.
    RIP G
