Trevor Noah Mocks Death Report
Trevor Noah is alive and well. So is everyone else in his family. In fact, the new host of “The Daily Show” is mocking news reports that claimed he and his relatives were in “mourning” after his cousin supposedly died.
The Sunday Times, a newspaper in Johannesburg, was the first to report that Noah’s family “was in mourning yesterday after the murder of his 24-year-old cousin,” and claimed “relatives attended the funeral of the murdered teacher, Cebisile Happiness Khoza, in a village near Wasbank in KwaZulu-Natal.” In response to the alleged death and other losses the family had suffered over the years, Noah’s reported grandmother Nomalizo Noah was quoted as saying the family is “cursed.”
Nomalizo allegedly told the Sunday Times that while Noah and his cousin were not close, they had previously met. At the time the story was published, the paper said Noah had not yet been informed of the death as he was traveling for work. But, according to Noah, everyone and everything is well among his family.
He tweeted Sunday, “Thanks to some crafty journalism my family and I have spent the whole day trying to figure out if one of us died. #awkward.” Noah then quipped in a second message, “Don’t always believe what you read. This is something I learned from aliens when I travelled to Mars last year.” Gossip Cop is further told that the deceased woman is NOT Noah’s cousin.
As Gossip Cop reported, the South Africa-born Noah will replace Jon Stewart at the helm of “The Daily Show” later this year. We’ll have updates.
