NBC’s annual star-studded celebration to kick off the holiday season is now in its 84th year. The festivities were again hosted by “Today” show anchors Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, and Hoda Kotb. In addition to Kelly, there were also musical performances by Tony Bennett, Neil Diamond, Josh Groban, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Sarah McLachlan, Dolly Parton, Jordan Smith, The Roots, Anthony Hamilton & The HamilTones, and more. Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon were also on hand to help light the tree.
Kelly, whose debut album Unbreakable Smile debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 last year, was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2016 Grammy Awards. Her subsequent U.S. tour to promote the album, which includes such hits as “Nobody Love,” “Hollow” and “Should’ve Been Us,” sold out across the country. The singer next lends her voice to this December’s animated film Sing, in which she co-stars alongside Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson and more.
Shortly prior to Wednesday night’s show, Kelly tweeted, “so jazzed to perform @ the iconic tree lighting in nyc tonight,” along with emojis of hearts and a Christmas tree. Check out video of her “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” performance below!
