According to a number of blogs, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and girlfriend Candice Crawford are “engaged.”

Of course, there are no details given about the alleged proposal, nor any comments from either Romo or Crawford. Instead, sites are basing the engagement speculation on recent photographs of Crawford wearing some bling – the same photographs that Romo ex Jessica Simpson “nearly fainted” after seeing, according to In Touch Weekly.

Last week Gossip Cop pointed out that it’s true Simpson might not “know what [the ring] means,” as In Touch suggested… but neither did the magazine, or any other outlets.

So when more sites began to report with certainty that Romo and Crawford were “engaged”, we decided to find out whether there is any more substance to the rumors.

There isn’t.

Engagement talk is “not true,” Crawford’s boss at KDAF, a CW affiliate known as Channel 33 in Dallas, told Gossip Cop. When informed of our inquiry, he added, Crawford “found it amusing.”

We wonder if the tabs and gossip blogs that don’t check facts realize how “amusing” their reporting is.
