Tony Bennett Did NOT Suffer A Heart Attack, Despite Online Reports
Tony Bennett did not suffer a heart attack, despite online rumors. The awful and untrue chatter began when it was announced that Bennett became ill during a soundcheck before a show with Lady Gaga, slated for Tuesday night at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The venue released a statement that read, “We’re very sorry to say that tonight’s concert has been cancelled due to Tony Bennett being taken ill… We would also like to wish Tony a speedy recovery.” Bennett cancelled his performance with Gaga because he has the flu. He did not have a heart attack, a rumor that seems to have been spread when an apparent Lady Gaga fan named Kelsey Starlight tweeted, “It’s just been confirmed by staff here that Tony suffered a heart attack” (see below).
Bennett has since tweeted, “Sorry to not be singing in London tonight. I love my fans in the UK and appreciate all the well wishes to get over this flu quickly.” Lady Gaga later also tweeted, “Hey everybody! Don’t worry about Tony, he’s ok! That’s just showbiz sometimes. We’ll catch u next time, we got you!”
Bennett and Lady Gaga had performed the night before at the Royal Albert Hall for a charity event for WellChild, which was attended by Prince Harry. The two have been touring in support of their duets album “Cheek To Cheek,” and are slated to perform on Saturday in the Bahamas before a four-date engagement at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
Gossip Cop would like to wish Bennett a quick recuperation from the flu, and asks that people stop spreading the horrible heart attack rumor.
