Tommy Chong Reveals He Has Rectal Cancer, Thanks Fans For “Love, Support”
Tommy Chong has rectal cancer. The star’s new health battle comes just a few years after he fought prostate cancer.
Chong first revealed the diagnosis in an interview with Us Weekly, saying, “I’ve had some medical issues lately.” The marijuana aficionado noted he’s again using weed to help with treatment. “I’m using cannabis like crazy now, more so than ever before,” he said. He went on to acknowledge, “Either I get healed or I don’t. But either way, I’m going to make sure I get a little edge off or put up.”
After the news broke, Chong took to Twitter to update fans on the situation, and showed off his trademark sense of humor. “I have good news and bad news. First the bad news, the cancer came back and it’s a real pain in the butt,” he said, making a joke about the location of his latest medical issue. He continued, “The good news is I now have to use more marijuana to treat the cancer.”
Chong also noted, “I will be documenting my cancer fight on the ‘Chong and Chong’ podcast to let my fans know how the fight is going. Please wish me luck while I kick cancer’s behind. Thank you for all of your love and support.” The comedian-actor, who was a fan-favorite on “Dancing with the Stars last year, is 77 years old. Gossip Cop wishes Chong a speedy recovery.
