Tom Hardy is close to joining the next Batman movie.

A source close to the star tells Gossip Cop that he’s slated for an undetermined lead role.

Negotiations began quickly after Hardy’s Mad Max: Fury Road was delayed. We’re told the rising British actor was soon flooded with offers, but that he jumped at Batman 3.

The superhero sequel’s director, Christopher Nolan, worked with Hardy on the summer blockbuster Inception.

Coincidentally, Hardy’s Inception costar Joseph Gordon-Levitt has also been the subject of Batman 3 rumors that have him playing The Riddler.
