Tom Cruise Confiscated Uber Driver’s Cell Phone?
Tom Cruise did NOT confiscate an Uber driver’s cell phone to ensure he wasn’t secretly recording him, despite a ridiculous tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this claim. We’re told it “never happened.”
According to In Touch, the movie star recently took an Uber ride home from the Los Angeles airport, but was so paranoid about being spied on that he forced the driver to hand over his phone. A so-called “source” tells the magazine, “Tom insisted on looking through it to ensure he wasn’t recording anything or taking photos.”
The tabloid’s dubious insider further claims Cruise “demanded [the driver] turn off the phone” after determining he wasn’t recording, but then “searched the vehicle for recording devices.” The “source” goes on to say the actor didn’t find anything, but another problem arose because “the poor driver couldn’t use his cell for directions, so he got lost.”
Despite how absurd this story sounds, Gossip Cop still checked in with a source close to Cruise, who exclusively assures us this supposed incident “never happened.” Unfortunately, In Touch has published a number of tall tales about the movie star, so we’re not shocked by this latest piece of fiction.
Gossip Cop previously debunked the magazine’s claim Cruise went on a “secret plastic surgery trip” to Switzerland. And shortly before that nonsense, we called out the publication for its bogus story about Cruise marrying a “mystery actress.” This latest report from the tabloid is equally untrue.
