Tom Cruise on “Dear Friend” Tony Scott’s Death: “I Will Really Miss Him”

Tom Cruise is mourning the loss of his Top Gun director Tony Scott, who committed suicide in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Cruise tells Gossip Cop in a statement, “Tony was my dear friend and I will really miss him. He was a creative visionary whose mark on film is immeasurable.”

“My deepest sorrow and thoughts are with his family at this time,” adds the actor.

A slew of actors and fellow directors such as Justin Timberlake, Samuel L. Jackson, Jon Favreau and Eli Roth have tweeted heartfelt messages about Scott and his legacy.

Scott was reportedly diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer before he died.

    As tragic as this all is…I can understand why he did it. He didn’t wanna suffer, or see his family suffer with him through the cancer. My heart and sympathies go out to all his family and friends.

    Tom Cruise won’t miss him, he can have the aliens connect him long distance to Tony Scott himself anytime. I pretty sure how that deranged religion works.

    I do too. My oldest brother died of brain cancer. It was a fast growing melanoma and he was gone in 6 months after his diagnosis. It is a horrible way to die.

    This is true but life insurance won’t cover 1 cent of your funeral when you die by suicide. This leaves his family in one hell of a bind.

    Do you know who Tony Scott is? Do you know who his brother is? While this is tragic and yes insurace will not cover due to suicide. I’m 99.9% sure the Scott family doesn’t have to worry about funeral coverage.

    Wow …this is the only idiotic comment you can come up with in the wake of such a tradegy? It’s not about Cruise or Scientology it’s saying good-bye to a friend and whether you enjoyed Scott’s films or the production of “The Good Wife” or not, his death is a loss for the cinema/entertainment community and anyone who regards his work. Also the tragic manner in which his life ended is not to be deminished by your need to take a swipe at Cruise or his Religion, ..I’m no Cruise or Scientology supporter; but I love American Ideals- so whether you are an American (U.S.) or not- to me it’s your right to say whatever you want, but it’s also my right to tell you I think your remarks are in poor taste at this time.
