Tom Cruise Suing Life & Style for $50 Million for Claiming He Abandoned Suri

Tom Cruise is suing Life & Style for $50 million after the tabloid claimed the actor had abandoned his daughter Suri.

The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

“Tom is a caring father who dearly loves Suri,” Cruise’s attorney Bert Fields said in a statement. “She’s a vital part of his life and always will be. To say he has ‘abandoned’ her is a vicious lie. To say it in lurid headlines with a tearful picture of Suri is reprehensible.”

Fields continues, “Tom doesn’t go around suing people. He’s not a litigious guy. But when these sleaze peddlers try to make money with disgusting lies about his relationship with his child, you bet he’s going to sue.”

“These serial defamers are foreign owned companies with their global headquarters in Hamburg,” the lawyer says of Life & Style’s owners. “They take money from unsuspecting Americans by selling their malicious garbage. Having to pay a libel judgment may slow them down. Tom will undoubtedly give the money to charity. He always has.”

As Gossip Cop reported, Fields first slammed Life & Style’s spurious claims back in July.

    Poor suri. She has become one huge photo op for her mother. She is living in a fish bowl, always being stared at, always being hounded and followed. I hope Tom gets a quiet estate where she can go to be normal as she can be.

    The hard part is the libel laws in the US. You have to prove not only that it isn’t true, but that the publisher knew it wasn’t true and intended to have financial consequences for the subject. Very hard to prove. I don’t buy any tabloids, they just make things up.

    Katie is trying to move on with her life with Suri doing normal things, school, dance, gymnastics, plays, ice cream, etc.. Suri has been in “a fish bowl” since the day she was born. Should she be barracaded to an estate? Now THAT’S normal!!!!!

    You don’t see other stars every single day of their lives being snapped pictures of the way suri is. Pretending this is normal, is sick. It’s one thing once in awhile, but this is almost daily. Someone like Sarah Jessica Parker can get away with it. Nobody cares. Nobody even knows who her children are, unless she accompanies them. But someone like suri, whose face is immediately identifiable to everyone in the world, it is downright dangerous and pretending it’s normal doesn’t make it normal.

    I meant to write, ‘star’s children’. But with suri, she already ‘is’ like a star. Her mother would be pretty much irrelevant if she weren’t her daughter. I think her ‘pretense to give suri a normal life’ is just that…a pretense. Oh look she’s no normal, they take the subway, oh look they go to the store. Oh look at that, she’s crying. Oh look she has to be carried around constantly. This is NOT normal.

    I’ve never been A Tom Cruise fan. He is so arrogant and that creepy religion he believes!! But~~~There is no doubt he is a good father . I wish more celebrities would sue ie, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, and some of the others. The tabloids are way out of control.
    Do the tabloids ever give honest info :-(~~~I am highly doubtful. It has gone way too far. And then comment sections on sites like this give people the opportunity to say horrible and nasty things about the celebrities. It’s all just wrong. Thinking of the Golden rule here. Any one remember that .

    Good for Tom, he isn’t my favorite celeb but can you imagine Suri reading that when she gets older? Or even if her classmates did and pick on her by saying her dad abandoned her? How cruel of the mags and I am hoping more celebs follow his lead especially Rob and Kristen. Go Tom you have the world’s support they have taken it too far and its about time they pay plus it goes to charity!

    The fact of the matter is that Suri has living in a fish bowl due to the fact that her Father is Mr Tom Cruz. If Suri were Katies child with someone else she would never have been hounded the way she has. You can’t simply barricade a child up and forbid them for leaving the house. Suri has to learn to cope with he life that she has been dealt. No one gets to choose their parents, her life could be much worse then it is. She will have every opportunity in life at her disposal. You really think the life that Tom Cruz lives is normal? Have you heard about all the crazy things he believes in? I have no doubt that her life Tom Cruz would be anything but normal.

    Exactly Ann. His religion is weird, they do auditing…oh wait…the catholic church does ‘confession’. It’s all weird to me, but to each his own. Outside of that, everyone that knows him, likes him.

    David letterman like so many others commutes. They protect their children from the paps. Poor suri has a mother that’s always on the ready to be in the shot. How does one pretend to be normal living in a zoo?

    Although things get said about him in the tabs constantly, he isn’t that big on suing, but when he does do it for this sort of reason, he usually wins against them. I would be very worried if I were that mag right now. I am not a fan of his, but taking shots at his parenting to sell a sleazy magazine is pretty low. His daughter will grow up and these stories will all be out there, and I can understand why he would take such offense to that. These mags are so awful, they should be ashamed of themselves.
