REP: Tom Cruise NOT “In Talks” With J.J. Abrams For Star Wars Role (EXCLUSIVE)
Tom Cruise is “in talks with J.J. Abrams for [a] Star Wars role,” claims an exclusive from The Sun. According to a so-called “source” for the tabloid, “Tom has been in London for over a week and met up with J.J. and some other people” from the production about doing a cameo in Star Wars: Episode VII.
“On Saturday evening five of them met up for dinner and drinks at the Belgravia Hotel. J.J. loves working with Tom whenever he gets the chance,” says the paper’s supposed “source,” referring to how the director and Cruise have previously worked together on the Mission: Impossible films.
The story naturally spread like wildfire, with a slew of outlets picking up the report without fact-checking. Cruise’s rep, however, tells exclusively Gossip Cop that reports about him appearing in the next Star Wars film are absolutely “false.”
Of course, The Sun has had a rather spotty record when it comes to Cruise. Gossip Cop busted the tabloid when it wrongly claimed he was buying George Clooney’s home in Lake Como. We also shot down the paper’s false report about Cruise dating Malin Akerman’s sister Jennifer. And Gossip Cop similarly debunked the outlet’s tall tale about Cruise using a helicopter to “commute” around London. None of those articles were true, and neither it the latest one.
