Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Reach Divorce Settlement

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have reached a divorce settlement less than two weeks after they split, reps for the pair confirm to Gossip Cop.

Holmes’ lawyer Jonathan Wolfe tells Gossip Cop in a statement, “This case has been settled and the agreement has been signed.  We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.”

Wolfe adds, “We thank Tom’s counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.”

Cruise and Holmes also issued a joint statement, which reads, “We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests.”

“We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents,” add Cruise and Holmes.

While lawyers for the former couple are keeping details about the agreement confidential, it’s been widely reported that Suri will reside primarily with Holmes under the new custody arrangement, with Cruise given generous visitation rights.

Holmes was also reportedly granted primary legal custody of Suri.

She blindsided Cruise when she filed for divorce a week and a half ago.

She and daughter Suri have since moved into a new apartment in New York.

    She gets custody in NYC and he gets liberal visitation, whatever that means.

    He probably settles quickly to make sure that whatever he’s hiding underneath that rock stays under there.

    Good for Katie. She had him by the proverbial balls. That must be some darn good gossip right there. Well I don’t think I speak for myself when I say I was looking forward to her taking on that “church” but I guess it all does come down to what she wanted for her child. Looks like she got it and the kid will thrive in NYC. Plus she won’t have to grow up and read all about her father’s dirty little secrets some day. So a win, win, and win for all three of them.     I am sure Mr. Holmes (Katie’s lawyer daddy) gets a great deal of credit for probably looking out for his daughter and grand-daughter’s best interests. I am sure Katie had to sign something saying she would not talk about COS or anything dealing with Cruise’s involvement to get something this fast that gets her attorneys talking so fast. Notice Tom’s have said zilch, which tells a BIG story. Whatever she has on them is safe for now and that seems to be the biggest deal, which is kind of sad. But it seems Katie got what she wanted most, Suri and her freedom, which overshadows anything else. Good on her.

    damn, sleuth divorce. bravo katie, you get many points for the way this was handled. the only way she could have kept her kid. bravo. and nicole just gets a twinge of joy for the tables being turned. actions like these cause emotional injuries and hopefully in tom’s case, he’ll reflect.

    Call me paranoid but I don’t trust Cruise and Scientology. It’s very difficult to get out of a cult unscathed. Who’s to know but Tom and his cult played it easy as a ruse only to have some plan to kidnap Suri and take her off to some hidden place where no one can find her. One can only hope that it’s only paranoid thinking with no base in truth.

    I dont think Katie is who she portrayed herself to be( i.e. poor poor Katie). She reminds me of Paul Mccartney’s ex-wife. Paul shares custody of their daughter and he has moved happily on with his life. And so will Tom.

    I seriously doubt someone as high-profile as Tom Cruise would allow his “church” to kidnap his daughter. That would mean he would go to jail and lose out on all the mega-millions he earns from movies. I don’t see that happening.

    I’m happy for this quick solution because it is the best for Suri. Now, she can grow up in NY as a normal, rich kid, going to school and making friends. Her Daddy will probably visit as he passes through between films and his “church” duties. I’m sure Katie is thrilled her child won’t be taken away from her and put into the sea-org crazy school. She’s also probably happy she won’t be surrounded by Tom’s crazies anymore. I will bet she’s been working on this divorce for many, many months with the help of her father and others and the outcome is exactly what she wanted. I’m happy for her. She is finally free for a nightmare.

    I was just reading that Suri is not to be bought up a scientologist and all Toms visits are to be supervised by a nanny, what a relief for Katie.

    funny how negative comments about Katie are usually from an anonymous guest? According to the Sun, Katie got custody and Tom got supervised visitation and Suri will be raised away from Scientology

    OR and that is a very Big Or…The Scientology crowd realizes that any protracted divorce proceedings are sure to raise significantly larger questions about their so-called “church and religion” , than if they just let this go quickly, so people will forget about the negatives being written regarding the “church’s” methodology and educational practices….

    You know jackal lots of women really are abused and have nowhere to turn and little money and they have kids to support. Katie Holmes on the other hand put on this big performance to get her daughter and as much money, as she and her father, could squeeze out of Tom. Katie could have left at any time and taken the money in the pre-nup but that wasnt enough for her or her father so they used Suri. There is no poor Katie and I guess she really will need a lot of money to pay all those bodyguards and her lawyers. Nicole Kidman behaved with dignity and no one interfered with her career or her life.

    We live in a democracy do we not??? and if I wanted to be a member of the church of scientology I would think that I could do so without anyone criticizing me or mocking me. Same if I wanted to convert to islam or judaism or christianity or be an athiest. Why would anyone mock me or my beliefs. Be more afraid of someone who pretends an interest in something only to use it for their own advantage.

    First of all, living in a Democratic society doesn’t mean that people won’t criticize you or mock you. Helllooooo…politicians…presidents….even THEY get criticized and mocked…why should you or anyone else be above that? Everyone has opinions and their right to express them. It has absolutely nothing to do with democracy. Everyone’s a critic….EVEN *gasp* Scientologists.

    his first divorce took 45 days-new at it and he was fairly new to acting-trying to hold onto his money….. with Nicki- I think they BOTH had skeletons in the closet… and maybe these skeletons were not too bad-or in Tom’s case-NK did not know the extent of his skeletons or they had EQUAL ONES.

    BUT-TO SETTLE IN 14 DAYS..HUMMMM….. seems like Katie had some good, or some GREAT ADVICE FROM THE BEGINNING???? Like record, tape, write down… EVERYTHING YOU SEE, HEAR, ETC.???? Where would she get advice like that????? Maybe from her father, the lawyer???? Katies’ prenup was probably so drawn out in details after her father did alot of research on what might have happened to NK. NK’s prenup, on the other hand-she was a young girl from another country…young naive-Mr. Holmes was NOT going to let his daughter be dragged through the mud, have his grandchildren taken away, raised scientologists, etc. etc.And Katie responded by living for a while in NYC and getting NY lawyers. Me thinks Ms Holmes has a HE!! of a lot on MR Cruise-more than he wears ‘elevator shoes’ to make him look taller

    Tom Cruise is a pretty cool fellow and no way would he behave so foolishly. Why should he kidnap Suri, he will see her hopefully as often as he chooses. The very paranoid people here are Katie and her father. Those two ran to the media making all sorts of allegations before they spoke to Tom. I liked Katie and thought she was so sweet. Not any more.
