Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes Were Together in Iceland Days Before Divorce Bombshell

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes looked happy when they were spotted together in Iceland just days before Holmes surprised Cruise by filing for divorce.

As Gossip Cop reported earlier, Holmes left Cruise “deeply saddened” when she formally opted on Thursday to divorce him, seeking sole custody of their daughter Suri.

But less than two weeks ago, all seemed well with the couple when they were photographed walking hand-in-hand on the streets of Reykjavik, Iceland on June 16.

Cruise was in the country to film his upcoming movie Oblivion (PHOTOS HERE).

He, Holmes and Suri were together there for several days, including Father’s Day.

It apparently wasn’t even on Cruise’s radar that his marriage was in its final hours.

    Okay, I think Katie is certainly entitled to divorce Tom if she wants but there’s something really weird about the way she’s done it….why does she have to be so bloody under handed about it. I think her pretending everything is okay one minute and then emailing and faxing Tom to say she’s divorcing him is low class. I’d think that no matter who did it. Shame on you Katie.

    Come on the only thing he’s pissed about is her not letting him dictate how this break up was going to happen. Karma’s a bitch. She blindsided him the exact same way he blindsided Nicole when he divorced her. Had a romantic dinner one night and filed for divorce the next morning. I guess Katie did learn something from him after all.
    As for her being a nobody she was doing fine before she married him, and I suspect once she is in control of her career again she’ll be doing fine again.
    Divorcing Tom Cruise seems to be the best thing for woman in Hollywood’s career.

    You don’t know whether Tom is pretending that he didn’t know or not. He knew that things weren’t right, because why did he show up at games and other places without Katie? Maybe it surprised him because he didn’t think that she had the nerves to go forward. I don’t buy what Tom Cruise is saying at all. That’s what men usually do when they are caught by surprise and they are not in charge of the situation.

    Once someone decides to get out of a relationship, things change. It is no longer a nice-nice. Cruise has the reputation for being ruthless and he has a LOT of money to throw at this.

    If I were Holmes, I would want to be as far away as possible from Cruise, with my daughter, in the U.S., not a foreign country, when I broke the news. I’m sure she had to make sure she had funds available he couldn’t cut her off from, people around her who would protect her and her child in case he decided to make a grab for Suri. Possession is 9/10ths of the law, remember.

    Also consider that he is extremely controlling and belongs to what most people consider a cult. I wouldn’t trust him or his cult buddies, particularly not in a situation like this. People got a small taste of his mean streak and how he can be when he feels he has been crossed when he went after Matt Lauer in that interview. I bet he went up like a roman candle when he got the news she was leaving him. I would bet there is plenty of history between them over the last 6 years of him losing his cool.

    No, I think Holmes handled it the way it needed to be handled.

    I do think he was surprised, because he thought he had Holmes completely under his thumb, even as recently as Iceland. He has a huge ego. He is used to calling the shots. People around them have always said Holmes is very submissive to him and very quiet, but there were hints at times, when he wasn’t looking, that she would show signs of nervousness, anger and depression. I think she has been quietly planning this for a long time. The prenup supposedly gives her $3Mil for every year they were married and a bonus clause. 5 years was probably all she could manage. Perhaps it will be 6 by the time the divorce is final. Plus, I’m sure, she will be getting the NYC home, spousal support, child support and so on.

    I think she did the right thing to quietly plan this. You never know when someone is going to snap. It looked like she had no life outside of him and that can’t be healthy.

    What probably happened was that Tom goaded her into coming with him to Iceland as one last-ditch attempt to “re-kindle” before they decided to call it quits–and made sure that they were seen hand-in-hand so the Scienos had ammo to start this very PR campaign the second she filed.

    …It was looks like very happy couple,i truly believe that they loved each other…and I think we cant discuss them who is right and who’s wrong,the fact is broken family is and there is a small child far from one of lovely parent!no matter how much in a pocket for Tom is&what was think and expect Katie when she asked for divorce,but for sure there is something wrong going on in their relation ship far from cameras ,it’s normally for kind of famous people like them,and we cant be sure was a Katie really happy after marriage…Money cant buy a woman’s true happiness…it’s very important for a woman to be it…and doesn’t matter how rich or poor he is…plus,any woman wants to grow up her child by her own&always will be patently conflicts if father will also put him on it!Father’s job is just to keep his daughter on a strictly behavior& to give his advice for a grow as a father…they had a little different views for growing of their child,that’s for sure grow at a many conflicts between them…that was also a point of this family…they couldn’t tolerate it each other -that is main mistake of any couple…when we will learn how to tolerate,we will know how to talk,than we will know how to discuss the point& know how to solve the problem …than the marriage will be saved and happy…

    I think we should respect them and not talk about this as we have no idea and this belongs to their private lives. We should keep admiring Tom Cruise for how good he’s been entertaining us for so many years and I look forward to enjoying his future movies.
