Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes Reportedly Trying to Work Out Divorce Settlement

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are reportedly working out a divorce settlement to avoid a court battle, although neither side has confirmed the rumored behind-the-scenes negotiations.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Cruise and Holmes are attempting to hammer out an arrangement through their attorneys before a courtroom clash in New York, where Holmes filed for divorce nine days ago.

In the time since the split was announced, certain sites have spread inaccurate stories about the soon-to-be exes’ legal maneuverings, including the false report that Holmes had asked for an “emergency hearing” on child support and custody.

Holmes is seeking sole custody of the couple’s six-year-old daughter Suri.

As a Holmes insider told Gossip Cop, Suri’s education and upbringing were the major considerations in Holmes’ divorce filing.

Again, there’s no confirmation yet that the couple is in the midst of formal settlement negotiations.

    She’s probably going to get an extra $20 million out of it after playing the media and public so shrewdly over the last week. Good for her, but let’s be honest, she knew all about scientology when she signed up for this. She knew Nicole Kidman lost her kids being married to Tom. The idea that she is an innocent victim who had no idea what she was getting into is crap.

    Holmes is no victim or even innocent. Like a lot of other people I originally thought “poor katie”. Bollocks! Katie wants money, lots of it, she wants to keep Suri and she wants to revitalize a flagging (on life support) career and she’s using the media to do it. And her father is right there with her. Holmes has lived an A-lister life and she isnt going to let go of that. In this case, my sympathies are with Tom. He’s a decent person, and I dont recall ever hearing that he has harmed or done the dirty on anyone. Oh yeah and I dont believe Katie went to hollywood to marry Tom Cruise. Her sister came up with that crap. Katie was interested in Chris Klein.

    NIcole didnt lose her kids, they chose to live with Tom. They stay in contact with her as she is their mother and they don’t speak ill of her.

    Yes, because when you’re a small child, which they were back then, they made these decisions themselves. They weren’t the teenagers they are now and I’m sure Scientology played a significant role in them living with their father.

    Hope they take care of the custody issue sooner rather than later for Suris sake.

    As far as the money goes, I think Katie just wants her freedom back. But I’m sure that any settlement will include a non disclosure agreement.

    Hardly! If she wanted a lot of money she would have asked for it in the pre-nup. She didn’t. Bottom line: Katie doesn’t want Suri growing up in a cult.

    Tom’s best friend is David Miscavige the leader of Scientology. Look up that idiot! He’s a hot mess!! Katie is wise to get out now before Suri becomes indoctrinated.

    No mother would want their child around David Miscavige! Ever!! The fact that Tom Cruise is David’s best friend and confidant is beyond crazy! Seriously, wacked out, nutjob crazy!

    Katie is doing the right thing. This is about her daughter’s future first and foremost. Don’t get it twisted!

    Shame on Hollywood knowing full well how close David and Tom are and still support Tom.
    My heart breaks for all members of Scientology that have been abused at the bequest of David Miscavige.

    Shame on anyone who has power to stop it and stays quiet!! Tom’s pride refuses to see the truth so I have no empathy for Tom at all.

    BS! You never know someone until you live with them for a significant period of time. If that’s your logic then you could say that about everyone who gets divorced. People change! Marriages can start off great, stay great and never end. While others start off the same way and end up in a ditch. Sure she knew Tom was a scientologist, but she sure as hell didn’t know what a nutjob Tom’s best friend is, or how he would influence Tom’s life.

    You wouldn’t know that until your living with someone. When she met David Miscavage he was married, and then all of a sudden his wife disappears. Then the top people that Katie met in Scientology slowly, one by one starting defecting. And, after defecting they told their stories of serious abuse by David Miscavage. If i were Tom’s wife and I started reading about all the abuses by my husband’s best friend I’d be worried!

    Over the last four years more and more members of Scientology are on record stating what a lunatic David Miscavage truly is.

    She didn’t know any of this when she married Tom. Because all of it happened AFTER they were married and had Suri.

    This isn’t about money this is about doing the right thing for her daughter.

    I don’t know if this story is true or not but I hope it is. If this mess goes to court, everybody will lose, especially that poor child. These adults need to work out their differences as much in private as possible.

    She was young, inexperienced, on the mend after a breakup and Cruise bowled her over. Very heady stuff for a young woman to be aggressively pursued by one of the top people in her profession, I should think.

    I seriously doubt Cruise and the people around him painted the CoS for her as anything but the most marvelous thing in the world. During her pregnancy is when it all began to fray around the edges – when she realized she was being forced into weird obstetric procedures and people chanting around her birthing bed, etc. By that time, the isolation from former friends and family had begun to be very apparent. Anyone in her shoes would be afraid, especially when people were being sent to “re-education camps” in the mountains or outright disappearing.

    Holmes reportedly freaked on Cruise a couple of times over this stuff, so they would back off for a while. I think she decided to bide her time and plan her escape for when Suri would be older and she would have satisfied the prenup to the extent she could be sure she would get reasonable money going forward to support the two of them if Cruise fought any further financial settlement.

    I don’t blame her a bit for the way she proceeded. These CoS people are not benign. They have a long history of doing great harm to people who oppose them. The only thing saving her at this point is her high visibility. If she were just some Valley housewife, they would have grabbed the child by now and she’d be locked up in one of their camps, on one of their ships or dead and buried in the desert somewhere, never to be found, along with Miscavage’s wife and dozens of other disappeareds.

    Holmes is likely still going to have a fight on her hands over the child and she will probably find it difficult to get work. Look for lots of rumors to develop about her fitness as a mother, drug use, other scandals developing around her. It’s what they do.

    Cruise, who is at the highest level of the CoS, thinks he is invincible, the saviour of the world, his word is law, etc. He’s a very arrogant, smug, superior and self-righteous man. I doubt he is taking all this in good grace. We shall see.

    Didnt they have Suri BEFORE they were married? You are right, people do change and they divorce and thats it. Katie was such a sneak in the way she did it and why did she wait five years before she ran out the door? No one chased her or forced her to do anything. She is throwing muck at Cruise, but I’m sure a lot of it will end up sticking to her.
