Tom Cruise Forbid Katie Holmes from Making Dawson’s Creek Reunion Movie?

Truth rating: 1

(Us Weekly)

In the rush to explain Katie Holmes’ split from Tom Cruise, outlets like Us Weekly are making some pretty strange connections.

For instance, the magazine now says it has an “exclusive” that Cruise “forbade” Holmes from doing a “Dawson’s Creek” reunion movie.

“[Producers] were begging her to sign on for a reunion movie,” a so-called “source” tells Us Weekly. “Tom said absolutely no way and thought going backward would be bad.”

When Cruise “nixed the idea,” says Us Weekly, it supposedly put him at odds with Holmes, who the “source” says “wanted to do the movie and reconnect with her fans.”

A couple of things.

First of all, the story about Cruise torpedoing a “Dawson’s Creek” movie is not an Us Weekly “exclusive” — it ran in the National Enquirer last month.

More importantly: It’s totally false.

The reunion movie was never actually happening — it was just something the actors had recently joked about in various interviews.

Us Weekly’s implication that “Dawson’s Creek” became a sore point for Holmes and Cruise in terms of her professional future, contributing to their split, is nothing more than exaggeration and speculation.

While this movie might not be a true example, are you seriously trying to convince people, that Tom Cruise did not attempt to control her career?! I am not particularly a fan of Katie Holmes, but I am cheering for finally sticking up for herself and saving her daughter from a cult and future brain washing. Well done, Katie, well done!

That’s exactly what I was thinking. While this movie was not going to happen, Tom Cruise did attempt to control her career. It’s no coincidence that her career became almost nonexistent once they were married. She passed up on The Dark Knight to film Mad Money, which would have skyrocketed her had she signed on for it. I’m happy she’s grown a backbone as well & is doing what she needs to do in order to raise her daughter the way she wants to.

I’ve actually heard that she wasn’t asked to do TDK because Tom wanted to have control over everything. So his people spun it to look like she passed on the sequel.

It’s a shame, he didn’t want her career to be bigger than his.
