Tom Cruise did not recently have a “secret birthday bash” on the London set of his movie Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, nor did he refuse a “tailor-made” cake for him, despite a totally fabricated tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this nonsense. We’re told none of this happened.

According to the repeatedly disproven National Enquirer, at this supposed birthday party on the set of Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Cruise was surprised with a chocolate cake that was “dramatically wheeled out, ablaze with festive sparklers,” but he refused to eat even a sliver of it. A seemingly made-up source tells the tabloid that Cruise saw the cake and said, “All this for me? Please, come and get it ’cause I can’t eat any.” The magazine’s insider is further quoted absurdly saying the actor “turned into a total hardass, insisting he’d worked way too hard whipping his ass into tip-top shape for top-gun fans and wasn’t about to indulge in ‘risky business.'”

There’s so much wrong the Enquirer’s tall tale that it’s tough to decide where to start. But Gossip Cop will try. First off, Cruise’s birthday was on July 3. He was not on the set of Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. That film wrapped a while ago. The movie’s trailer, however, was released just days before Cruise’s birthday. So there was no set on which for him to have a “secret birthday bash” then.

Now that we’ve established that the whole premise of the tabloid’s article was concocted and untrue, let’s just look at the magazine’s quotes. Show of hands: Does anyone believe an actual source snuck in the titles of two of Cruise’s movies to say in conversation that he had “worked way too hard whipping his ass into tip-top shape for top-gun fans and wasn’t about to indulge in ‘risky business‘”?

Regardless of how phony and inaccurate the story sounded, Gossip Cop still checked in with a Cruise insider, who exclusively assured us none of the events, as described by the publication, actually happened. Sadly, we’re not surprised. The supermarket tabloid has a rich history of getting stories wrong about Cruise.

In the past, Gossip Cop has debunked such ridiculous claims as Cruise wanting to buy his daughter Suri both an island in New Zealand and an $8 million home in Hawaii. We also exclusively shot down the publication’s contention that Cruise is not Suri’s real dad. And more recently, Gossip Cop exposed the outlet for manufacturing a story that falsely stated Cruise reunited with Suri to get revenge on Katie Holmes for divorcing him. None of those stories were true, nor is the current one about his birthday bash.
