Suri Cruise has been “abandoned by daddy,” blares a cover story from In Touch, which claims Tom Cruise has “shut out” his six-year-old daughter since he and Katie Holmes split.

The tabloid, which recently claimed Cruise was trying to seize custody of Suri from his ex-wife (untrue) and that the little girl told her mom she wanted to live with her dad (b.s.), has done a 180 and now says he’s essentially cut off all contact with Suri.

So, what’s the mag basing its story on this time? In Touch points out that Cruise was not present for Suri’s first day of school in New York last week because he was in London. And how exactly does missing one important occasion equal abandonment? The tab says Cruise “hasn’t been photographed with Suri since Aug. 4 — 44 days ago,” quoting a so-called “family friend” of Holmes as saying, “He could have flown to NYC for one day to see Suri off to school.” The alleged pal adds, “It was selfish. He was out having a good time.”

Actually, he was working in London, shooting All You Need is Kill. Nevertheless, the mag goes on to speculate that Scientology “may be to blame” for Cruise supposedly turning his back on Suri. One In Touch source claims that since Holmes has cut ties with the church, Cruise has been encouraged to have nothing to do with her — or their daughter. The mag notes that Cruise has instead been “spending time with his other children” Isabella and Connor, who were “raised in Scientology,” and focusing on working and “hitting the party circuit” — rather than on Suri.

Seriously? Absolutely NOT. A source close the actor tells Gossip Cop that — far from “abandoning” his daughter — Cruise and Suri “speak several times a day — every day.” Our insider adds that despite their current geographical distance, Cruise will continue to “spend meaningful time with his daughter,” as always.
