Busting bad dish!

“Toddlers & Tiaras” Mom Forces Daughter to Split Personalities For Pageant

VIDEO

(TLC)

This week on “Toddlers & Tiaras,” the mother-daughter pageant freak fest, we meet Carley and her mom Melissa.

Melissa has spent roughly $30,000 this year on pageants and considers her daughter “as close to an exact replica of me as there could ever be.”

“I feel like her and I are the same person, we live the same life… and I just feel like that is me on the stage,” she says, without a hint of irony.

Adding to the “ick” factor is that 5-year-old Carley has a second personality named “Darla” whom Melissa encourages to come out for pageants.

“Darla” seems to be sassier and more divalicious than Carley, which is why Melissa demands to speak to “Dar” while the two prep for a competition. “Darla” explains to the cameras that Carley had to “stay at home.”

Wow.

Are you running out of bad gossip to bust that you’re now covering Toddlers & Tiaras??

This mother needs professional help and soon.

    Don’t they all?

I watched that particular episode the way you would a car wreck….horrible! Was I really seeing this? Could it be true? This Melissa person embodies just all that is wrong with pageant moms. She is obtuse, critical, self-serving, vain and completely ignores her child’s wishes to just have her ‘normal’ hair and leave off the fake eyelashes. We’ll be seeing a tell-all book in about twenty years…

This is so terrible where is the father of this little girl and why would he his wife treat their daughter this way? Sick on so many levels

  • she_devil

This is beyond sick! Is this the only way that this mother knows how to spend quality time with her daughter? If she feels that its her out there, then she needs to participate on her own and not put her daughter through this. On top of this she uses threats to get the child to do what she has been told (by taking her iPod away), when clearly the girl does not want to practice. The fact that the mother is more concerned with the way she will be seen by the audience (we are on national TV), then what her child wants is sickening. Not to mention that she encourages and forces the protective mechanisms of the child (multiple personalities) is disgusting. In another video showed by GC (the one with the three year old dressed as a prostitute) one of the mothers says that those outfits give the moms a bed rep. It’s not the outfits that give them the bad reputation, it’s the fact that they put their children through extensive hair and make-up procedures, they force tan them in the middle of December, make them wear high heals and get perms, make them wear ridiculous gowns that only portrays the child as being much older the they really are. That is not normal to put a toddler through. Television reports show almost on a daily basis, young children being kidnapped, molested, killed, and the authorities cry out that we need to protect our children, make sure that they do not draw the attention of twisted minds, when in fact pageants and the media attention given to them, only zeros in on these girls and make them easy prays for pedophiles etc. I do not understand why the authorities do not take action? Why don’t they put an age limit for such competitions? I have watched, out of curiosity two or three episodes (never actually managed to watch a whole one) of T&T and have seen children being paraded across a stage when they were a few months old, all dressed up and ready to be exposed. Disgust is not even the proper word to describe what I feel. Pageants are not necessarily a bad thing, when girls/boys are older (above 16 at least), since they have the free will to decide if they actually want this, or how much exposure they receive. But a toddler is depended on its parents and has to bend to their wishes. This is beyond sick and disgusting and shame on the television network that produces and broadcasts such shows. Is there no one out there to see the in these pageants and put a stop to them? Give these children their childhood back and not turn them into shallow, insecure people? This is outrageous!!!

First and foremost, the producers of this show are very sick, demented freaks. This show needs to be taken off the air ASAP! TLC should be ashamed. This is child abuse, plain and simple and someone needs to step in and protect these children. These are the types of moms that will kill the competition (like the cheerleader mom in Texas). And where are the fathers of these children?

this women clearly has an eating disorder, first off, and what shes doing is child abuse. That poor poor kid. I wanted to cry. I hope this was scripted a bit. I really hope. I cant imagine what she does to her little girl behind closed doors. probably forces her to diet. I wouldnt be surprised. Someone please CALL CPS!!!!!

Whats worse is “Darla” isn’t the first split personality–a couple of years ago there was a ten year old who became “Tootie” when she did pageants. Her mother didn’t actively encourage it though, and the daughter kept complaining that the mother wasn’t calling her Tootie (what’s up with the name? It sounds like an odd combo of juvenile and erotic….). When the mom addressed Tootie, it seemed more like she was trying to avoid a fight, but you’ve got to wonder–if she’s so exasperated by Tootie, why put her kid on live TV (or, if not that, why not make it Dr. Phil or a show that will give you some therapy and common sense)?

I am a Dutch viewer and just saw the episode about Carley…I am shocked!!! This is really crazy, and sooo wrong. I sent an email to the producers, I found an address on google. I hope they can give me an answer. I studied Child Behaviour Studies, and here in the Netherlands, I would call Child Protection on this mother!!

That poor, poor little girl. That mother is a control freak !! That is nothing short of child abuse, she blackmails that little girl. The little girl gets a say in nothing, she clearly wants to be a normal little 5 year old, but with a monster of a mother like that she clearly has no chance.. Somebody please check this little girl’s well being out, what is her home life like? By the looks of this… HORRIBLE.. Please god protect this lovely little girl !!
