Tobey Maguire Gambling To Blame For Divorce?
Tobey Maguire’s “gambling” was NOT to blame for his divorce from Jennifer Meyer, despite a new tabloid story. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this report. We’re told it’s “false.”
“He Gambled And He Lost!” blares a headline in this week’s Star, which goes on to claim Maguire’s alleged “gambling addiction” tore apart his nine-year marriage to Meyer. A so-called “source” tells the outlet that the actor’s “delicate balancing act” between his two different worlds was always a “thorn in Jennifer’s side,” and ultimately pushed her to the breaking point. The tabloid’s ill-informed insider contends Maguire would “join high-stakes poker games anywhere, anytime,” and it soon became an “obsession” that Meyer “didn’t sign up… especially after their kids came along.”
What’s more, says the magazine’s “source,” “If you’re a 41-year-old family man, like Tobey, at some point you have to grow out of the juvenile stuff that can cause friction in your home life.” He supposedly “wasn’t able to accomplish that, and I believe his marriage has finally paid the price for it,” adds the publication’s questionable insider.
We’re not sure whether the tabloid was bluffing with its report, but it has nothing. A source close to Maguire exclusively assures Gossip Cop the entire story is “totally false.” Maguire is a skilled card player, but it didn’t play a part in his and Meyer’s divorce.
