Tina Fey Making ‘Mean Girls’ Sequel Without Lindsay Lohan?
Fey, who wrote the original 2004 comedy, is currently working on a Mean Girls stage musical that is slated to premiere at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C later this year. But a so-called “source” now tells the National Enquirer that following the stage version, the “Saturday Night Live” alum plans on “writing a [movie] sequel but has no intentions of working with Lindsay again.”
The outlet’s dubious insider adds, “Lindsay hasn’t had a box-office hit in a long time and is no longer a bankable star. Plus, she comes with a lot of drama.” The “source” continues, “At the moment, it is just an idea and no casting has been made, but it will not include Lindsay.”
Gossip Cop, however, checked in with a reliable source close to the situation, who assures us that Fey simply isn’t writing a Mean Girls 2. We’re told there’s no big-screen sequel being planned without Lohan’s involvement, and the claim otherwise is entirely false. At this time, the only Mean Girls project in development is the stage musical.
