Tina Fey Wants To Play Amy Poehler’s Lover In Lesbian Movie
Fey spoke to The Advocate about her close relationship with Poheler, with whom she’s collaborated on a number of TV and film projects. In their upcoming movie Sisters, the actresses play siblings, but the interviewer wanted to know, “When can we expect a full-on Amy-Tina love story?”
Fey answered, “Maybe we could do a lesbian period piece like a comedic version of Carol.” Carol is an upcoming drama, set in the 1950s, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara as two women who fall in love. “Really, we should just do a movie with all the women of ‘SNL’ and set it on the Isle of Lesbos,” added Fey.
The comedic actress and writer went on make the surprising revelation that, despite how close the two are, she and Poehler rarely hang out socially. “What makes it great now is that the only time we see each other is when we work on things,” said Fey. In addition to their joint film appearances, the former “Saturday Night Live” stars have hosted the “Golden Globes” three times together.
But as far as a long-term collaboration goes, Fey admitted, “I don’t know if we could ever do a series together. We’re both alphas who like to do our own thing and then meet up occasionally.” Tell Gossip Cop what you think about Fey’s idea for a “lesbian period piece” starring her and Poehler.
