Tim McGraw Giving Away 36 Mortgage-Free Homes To Veterans — WATCH VIDEO!
Tim McGraw has given away six mortgage-free homes to veterans this year, and plans to award 30 more through September. Check out the video below!
McGraw has teamed up with Operation Homefront and Chase for the charitable endeavor. The country superstar has a long history of working with both the non-profit and the bank, and has given out a total of 114 homes over the last three years. That’s helped more than 300 veterans and their families in 30 different states.
For this new round of giving, the timing coincides with McGraw’s “Shotgun Rider Tour,” which began earlier this month and has dates scheduled into September. The singer is awarding a home to a pre-qualified veteran at each concert date. By the end of the tour, three dozen houses will have been assigned.
“[These are] people who have given us security for a lot of years, and we’re able to do that back for them a little bit in a small way,” says McGraw. The singer, whose sister fought in the first Gulf War, says it’s a “personal connection” that fuels his desire to help out, but notes, “I don’t think you can live in this country and not have some sort of personal connection with people who put their lives on their line.” Watch below to see McGraw’s full comments, as well as some of the veterans the music icon has helped.
