Tiger Woods took questions from the media for the first time since his sex scandal today, three days before he competes in The Masters.

He started by mentioning how touched he’d been by the support he received during preparation for the tournament, and that he’d like the press to stop asking fellow players questions about his own situation.

- What injuries did Woods sustain the night of the car accident? “Busted lip and sore neck.”

- What’s been the most difficult thing to deal with? 1. “Having to look at myself in a light I never wanted to look at myself. How far astray I got from more core morals.” 2. “Constant harassment of my family,” specifically referencing the photographing of his wife and children wherever they went.

- How will the discovery of his secret life affect his golf game? Woods said he expected it to more closely resemble the earlier part of his career. “Winning golf tournaments through all of this is irrelevant compared to the damage I’ve caused.”

- He will try not to get “hot” when he plays, attempting to “tone down” his “negative outbursts” and to be “more respectful.”

- He’s going to acknowledge the fans and show more appreciation.

- Woods denied ever having taken performance enhancing drugs in response to a question about his relationship to recently investigated medical professionals. “I have never taken an illegal drug in my life.”

- How nervous was he sitting there [at the press conference]? “Not nervous,” much more nervous about stepping out in front of the fans on the course itself. “Didn’t know what to expect.”

- There are a number of questions about Woods’ physical fitness, his training regimen, his history with prescription drugs, etc. in terms of his athletic performance. He’s taken Ambien and Vicodin.

- Woods says he was in rehab for 45 days. “To take a hard look at myself, and I did.” “I have to continue with my treatment.”

- Asked what the rehab was for, Woods curtly replied, “It’s personal.”

- Explaining his double life: “I was rationalizing, denying, in total denial at times.”

- He’s gone back to meditation and his Buddhist roots. “I need to do these things the way I used to do it, and unfortunately I got away from that… I lost my life in the process.”

- Around Christmas is when he made the decision to enter rehab.

- “I missed my son’s first birthday. And that hurts. That hurts a lot.”

- How did you fool so many people for so long? “I fooled myself as well.”

- “It’s not about championships. It’s about how you live your life.”

- On the Masters: “I’m going to go out there and try and win this thing.”

- Wife Elin will NOT be attending the tournament.

Good! Can we move on from this now?

  • MyKinKStar

YES! Months ago he asked that his wife AND CHILDREN be left alone, BUT STILL there are pictures of her pumping gas, picking up the children and additional stories about NOTHING. Leave them alone and please stop giving those Skanky HORRORS any attention too!
