Tiffany Pollard Stops Selling ‘David Is Dead’ T-Shirts Following David Gest’s Death
Tiffany Pollard has removed her T-shirts that read “David Is Dead,” referring to David Gest, because he’s actually now dead. As Gossip Cop reported, Gest, a music producer and ex-husband of Liza Minnelli, died on Friday of unknown causes in a London hotel at the age of 62.
Pollard retweeted her management’s messages that noted Gest had passed away, and that they “decided to remove certain T-shirts from her range. We also send all our love to David’s family at this difficult time!” Pollard, who appeared on VH1’s “Flavor Of Love,” met Gest when they appeared in January on the U.K. show reality show, “Celebrity Big Brother.”
The phrase “David Is Dead,” which Pollard later emblazoned on T-shirts, grew out of a misunderstanding on the show. While Gest lay ill in bed one day, “Big Brother” contestant Angela Bowie found out her ex-husband David Bowie had passed away. She then confided to Pollard, “David’s dead,” and asked her not to tell anyone.
Pollard, however, thought she was talking about David Gest and completely broke down. Her grief was so great that, even though she promised not to say anything, the other contestants wanted to know what was wrong, and she explained, “David is dead.” The shocked “Big Brother” participants then ran to where Gest was laying down, only to discover that he was very much alive (video below).
Following that, Pollard capitalized on her mistake by selling “David Is Dead” T-shirts. Now, in the wake of his death, she’s removed the item from sale. See a photo of Pollard modeling her “David Is Dead T-shirt below.
