Simon Cowell is back.

TV’s biggest curmudgeon – along with fellow judges L.A. Reid, Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul – stars in a brand new preview for “The X Factor,” the music talent competition Cowell is bringing to America this fall.

The clip shows a newer, nicer, sweater-clad Cowell heaping praise on singers… until he wakes up in a cold sweat.

From then on, Cowell returns to the form that made him the biggest personality on “American Idol.”
