The Weeknd Performs “Starboy” On ‘SNL’ – WATCH VIDEO
The Weeknd sang “Starboy” on this week’s “SNL.” The song is the first single off his upcoming album of the same name. See the video below of The Weeknd’s performance of “Starboy” on “Saturday Night Live.”
The Weeknd’s appearance on “SNL” marks the second time he’s been the musical guest and the fourth time he’s performed on the show. The first time The Weeknd appeared on “Saturday Night Live” was in 2014 when he joined musical guest Ariana Grande on “Love Me Harder.” He came back the following year to be the show’s musical act, during which he sang “Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills.” And last March, The Weeknd returned to “SNL” when Future provided the program’s music to sing the former’s song, “Low Life.”
The Canadian singer’s return to “Saturday Night Live” coincides with the release last week of the single “Starboy” and “False Alarm,” which dropped on Thursday. The music video for “Starboy” begins with The Weeknd being bound to a chair and suffocated to death with a bag over his head. The killer is also The Weeknd, which seems to symbolize the singer killing off his own musical style for a more techno sound, which is provided by Daft Punk, who are featured on “Starboy.”
After its first week out, “Starboy” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at 40. It also landed on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Mainstream Top 40, and Rhythmic charts. Check out the video below of The Weeknd’s performance of “Starboy” on “SNL.” NOTE: The video is no longer available.
