“The View” Reacts To Donald Trump Named “Person Of The Year” (VIDEO)
“The View” co-hosts reacted to Donald Trump being named “Person of the Year” just hours after Wednesday’s big announcement. Watch below.
As Gossip Cop reported, it was revealed on the “Today” show that Trump was chosen by Time magazine editors as the 2016 “Person of the Year.” The ABC morning show then decided to use the news for one of its “hot topic” segments. Whoopi Golberg introduced the subject, explaining Trump was selected for the impact he’s had over the last year.
That led Joy Behar to quip, “It’s true, because two years ago, he was in a reality show with Snooki, and now he’s the leader of the free world. I mean, you can’t make this sh*t up!” The expletive was bleeped, but cracked up most of her fellow panelists.
Sara Haines then pointed out, “I think in the year 2016, we used the name ‘Trump’ more than we used the word ‘the.'” She noted, however, that the Time designation isn’t “necessarily” a “good” thing. In fact, Behar read off the names of some past selections: Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Vladimir Putin.
Jedediah Bila chimed in to note that there are “some good people” on the list, too. “I think it was good pick, though, because this is a man who did change the face of politics,” she said. “No one thought he had a chance to get elected. He somehow managed to make this happen.”
Meanwhile, when Sunny Hostin said the Time cover notes that Trump is president of the “divided” states of America and expressed hope he would call for people to come together, Goldberg interjected, “He’s too busy tweeting Alec Baldwin!” The moderator then went on to rant about the President-elect’s behavior.
And Behar read off the angry tweet Trump sent last year when Angela Merkel was chosen as the 2015 “Person of the Year,” showing the contrast to his happy reaction now. “He doesn’t need medication to get him up. He just needs a compliment,” she cracked. Check out the full video below.
