“The View” Reacts: Donald Trump First Interview, Immigration Ban (VIDEO)
“The View” on Thursday reacted to Donald Trump’s first interview as president and his immigration plans. Watch below.
Whoopi Goldberg introduced a clip of Trump’s interview with ABC’s David Muir, showing the president commenting on immigration. In the snippet, he said he has a “big heart” and he will “take care of everybody,” but many are here illegally. That prompted Joy Behar to crack, “He’s getting his big heart mixed up with his big head.”
Jedediah Bila expressed support for Trump’s crackdown plans, arguing that so-called “sanctuary cities” must be eradicated. “I like a lot, if I’m being honest, what he’s saying about immigration,” she said, insisting that it’s criminals who will be targeted. “It’s a problem for us to keep this country safe,” she stated.
Sunny Hostin pointed out, “There is no legal definition for a ‘sanctuary city.’ That is just a catchphrase that people throw out there.” She also expressed fear that what Trump is really asking for is racial profiling. “‘You are brown, you must be illegal or undocumented,’ that’s what they want,” she said.
Sara Haines called for Trump to “define” who he is targeting, and advocated for “grassroots help” enforcing current laws that apparently aren’t being followed. But Behar went on to question why Trump’s visa ban doesn’t apply to certain countries. Her answer: “Because he has business dealings in those countries.” Check out the video below.
