“The View” co-hosts on Tuesday praised Jimmy Kimmel for making the debate surrounding healthcare a “personal” battle. Check out the video below.

As Gossip Cop reported, Kimmel revealed last week that his newborn son had heart surgery. The revelation sparked a tense discussion on the ABC talk show on how best to solve America’s healthcare issues. After a week-long paternity leave, Kimmel returned to his late-night show on Monday, this time sarcastically joking about how he didn’t save healthcare, and saying tongue-in-cheek that it was “insensitive” and “offensive” of him to say all kids should have medical access.

Now reacting to his latest comments, Whoopi Goldberg said, “When things are laid out that plain, how can there be another argument?” Joy Behar noted that “comedians are leading the charge” in political criticism, and specifically said of Kimmel, “It’s just remarkable. I think he’s incredible.”

Added Sunny Hostin, “He put himself out there with that personal story… This goes to show when you have that kind of platform, you can really make a difference.” Jedediah Bila acknowledged that it’s “hard to put your life out there,” and thought Kimmel’s remarks “bring up an important point.” She explained, “I think there’s a lot of people, on both sides of the aisle, who agree and want kids to have coverage… I think the question is how to pay for it.”

Goldberg offered, “How about getting all kinds of people in the room to discuss it?” She stressed, “It ain’t about the party. It’s about the people. And if you’re fudging the people over…” Watch the video below.
