“The View” Slams Ivanka Trump Over China Trademark Rights Conflict Of Interest
“The View” co-hosts on Wednesday slammed Ivanka Trump for her conflicts of interest after she received new trademark rights in China. Check out the video below.
It was recently revealed that Ivanka’s requests were approved on the same day China’s leaders had dinner with the Trumps at Mar-a-Lago. A baffled Whoopi Goldergd asked, “This doesn’t sound like a conflict of interest to anybody?” To the panelists, of course, it did.
Sunny Hostin, noting she’s “felt very strongly about this from the very beginning,” objected to Ivanka always being “cast as the voice of reason” when she “suffers from the very same conflict of interest that her father suffers from.” Sara Haines pointed out, however, that those two things are not mutually exclusive, and Ivanka could still be a “voice of reason” within the administration.
But Hostin questioned whether Ivanka was really putting the people “first” given that she has “personal financial interests at stake.” Haines responded, “I’m not saying any of that is okay… I’m just saying it’s not black and white.” Joy Behar also questioned, though, “When you have this much money, why not take the next few years of from making money?”
Remarked Whoopi Goldberg, “I don’t know why everybody is so surprised. [Donald Trump] got his [trademarks] from China two days after he was inaugurated… It’s an issue but it doesn’t seem to be an issue to the American people.” Indeed, Jedidiah Bila said there’s Trump supporters that are glad Ivanka is at least “in the room.”
Retorted Hostin, “She should not be in the room.” Watch below.
