“The View” Reacts: Donald Trump’s Supreme Court Nominee Neil Gorsuch
“The View” discussed Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee announcement, and his pick, Neil Gorsuch, on Wednesday’s show. Watch below.
As Gossip Cop reported, Trump named Gorsuch as his Supreme Court nominee on Tuesday night. “I liked him. Not shocking,” Jedediah Bila said, noting, “He basically believes we should live by the letter of the Constitution.” After rattling off the reasons she supports Trump’s choice, Joy Behar interrupted to ask, “Why should they do it, though, because the Republicans stood in the way of Obama’s pick? Why should they say okay to this?”
“That’s the problem that I have,” Sunny Hostin chimed in. She went on, “He’s perfectly qualified, but I think his nomination is illegitimate… In my view, it doesn’t matter that he’s so qualified because he shouldn’t be in the mix.”
Sara Haines said she felt the Senate should have confirmed Merrick Garland, and should now move forward with Gorsuch. “Their job is to look at what’s being brought to them,” she argued. But, given what did and didn’t take place last year, Behar wasn’t having it.
She even declared, “The Democrats always go to a gun fight with a knife. Let them go with a gun this time. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of it being okay for the goose, but not the gander.” Interestingly, despite supporting Gorsuch’s nomination, Bila actually said it’s fine to “object.”
For Whoopi Goldberg, her biggest concern is whether Gorsuch will be “about the law, and not about the president. To me, that’s the most important thing.” Check out the full video below.
