“The View” Debates: Donald Trump Threatening North Korea, Bombing Afghanistan – WATCH VIDEO
On Monday’s “The View,” the co-hosts debated Donald Trump threatening North Korea and bombing Afghanistan. Watch the video below.
Last Thursday, Trump authorized the dropping of the so-called “mother of all bombs” on Afghanistan and has been talking tough about North Korea. In South Korea the last few days, Vice President Mike Pence also vowed that “the era of strategic patience is over.” All that isn’t sitting well with the panelists of the ABC talk show, or at least most of them.
“What happened to diplomacy?” asked Sunny Hostin. Jedediah Bila responded, “We’ve tried diplomacy with numerous countries… Diplomacy is great. It’s fantastic when you’re not dealing with tyrants.” Joy Behar sarcastically asked if she was calling for a “nuclear holocaust” instead. Bila replied, “I think the alternative is to be tough.
But Whoopi Goldberg was concerned about the consequences of Trump’s words and actions. “We’re in the middle of two wars. We’re trying to figure out what to do with Assad… Tweaking people’s nose, [his] kids are not going over there.” That led Bila to clarify that she doesn’t “support boots on the ground,” but she does “salute” Trump using bombs when appropriate.
An angry Hostin then asked Bila, “What’s the long-term plan? What is the strategy? You can’t just drop bombs and have no real plans…. You don’t know what the long-term plan is and he doesn’t either.” Behar also pointed out about Trump, “I know as much about Korea as he does. That’s really scary.” And Goldberg agreed, “Threatening them is not the way to go.”
But the group continued to debate Bila on whether diplomacy or military action is the way to proceed. Check out the video below.
