The Truth Behind Lindsay Lohan Phone Fiasco

Last night at around 7:15, Lindsay Lohan went into the Indian restaurant Mott Corner, where all she wanted was a cup of ice. Although it cost only 50 cents, Lohan gave an employee named MD Hassan $5 before dashing off.

But it wasn’t just change that she left. The “Mean Girls” star also left behind her cell phone. Hassan told Gossip Cop that after he served a few more customers, he noticed the phone and went outside to find whoever left it. Lohan, who had just gotten into a cab with a guy and a gal, then asked for the phone back, but Hassan told them that she had to call her number to prove ownership.

For some inexplicable reason, and Hassan himself wasn’t entirely sure why, Lohan’s phone didn’t ring, and he refused to return it until he looked at the restaurant’s surveillance tape.

After trying to explain to Hassan – to no avail – that it was Lohan’s phone, one of her friends called the police. Hassan ended up never even looking at the tape and the whole situation was resolved.

While some other outlets are beginning to play up Lohan’s annoyance that her phone wasn’t being immediately returned, the biggest eye-openers for Gossip Cop are that (1) she was charged 50 cents for ice, and (2) she gave a $4.50 tip for ice.

Lindsay likes to cause drama though. Was there really a need for the friend to call the police. They just wanted to make sure it was really her phone. I hate to point this out but Lindsay is well known to lie.

  • Spinilli, you’re probably right – it could have probably been done without the police. But I’ll tell you, I spoke to the employee, and said why didn’t you give her the phone back and he was SO adamant about not turning over property until he could prove who the owner was. I guess I respect that he didn’t want to give the phone to the wrong person, but from her perspective it must have been infuriating having someone holding your phone hostage. Again, most shocking part to me is someone charging another person 50 cents for ice on a sweltering New York summer day. Always appreciate your comments, Spinilli. Thanks!
