The Situation Indicted For $8.9 Million Tax Evasion, Turns Himself In For Arrest
Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino was charged with tax evasion on Wednesday, and is expected to surrender to authorities today.
According to the indictment against him, the former “Jersey Shore” star is accused of failing to pay his full income tax on a whopping $8.9 million in earnings.
Prosecutors in New Jersey claim The Situation instead filed false tax returns to make it look like he had fulfilled his obligations.
His brother, Marc, was indicted for conspiracy to commit tax fraud, and is also expected to turn himself in today.
The news comes three months after The Situation was arrested following a brawl with his other brother, Frank, at their family-owned tanning salon.
He accepted a plea deal in July, in which the reality star was ordered to undergo 12 weeks of anger management and then, pending completion, would have his assault charge reduced to disorderly conduct.
It’s not yet clear how this latest legal trouble will affect the clan’s TVGN reality show, “The Sorrentinos.”
UPDATE: The Situation and his brother were booked, pleaded not guilty before a judge in a New Jersey courtroom, and were released on bail of $250,000 each. They’ll be arraigned on October 6.
