(Time)

On Wednesday, “Today Show” anchor Matt Lauer sat down with Time managing editor Rick Stengel to discuss the finalists for the magazine’s annual “Person of the Year” cover.

Stengel said on the short were Kate Middleton, the protestors in Arab countries, and SEAL Team 6.

Today, Stengel announced Time’s “Person of the Year” for 2011 is… The Protestors, “who toppled governments.”

He added the protestors in the Middle East influenced the protests all over, including Occupy Wall Street.

Last year’s “Person of the Year” was Mark Zuckerberg.

Really great choice, it just goes to show that even ordinary people can do phenomenal things and they should be commended for their courage. I’m really happy to see Time recognising the power that people have to influence the world.

Ironically this morning at The Political Commentator, before this Time cover had come out, I had discussed the fact that OWS has reached 5,000+ arrests over the course of its protests while the participants still had little idea about what they were protesting for.

Do they truly represent “Man of the Year” material? About as much as Obama represented Nobel Peace Prize material!

TIME is providing some much needed acknowledgement to the importance of protest. The Occupy and Arab Spring Movements are NECESSARY for our citizens to expose the corruption which Big Business has infected our Government with. Every single person occupying the streets and protesting Corporations is a hero and a patriot. I was compelled to lend a hand and create some new posters for the movement which you can download for free on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/11/propaganda-for-occupy-movement.html
