The first full trailer for The Master has been released.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s movie, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman as the founder of a mysterious, mid-20th century faith-based organization, is widely believed to be a thinly veiled look at L. Ron Hubbard and the origins of Scientology.

Joaquin Phoenix and Amy Adams also star.

The movie is slated to hit theaters in October.
