“The Martian” Returns To Number One At Weekend Box Office
The Martian safely landed in the top spot at this weekend’s box office, thanks to several big bombs.
As Gossip Cop reported, the critically-acclaimed movie, featuring Matt Damon stranded on Mars, rocketed to number one when it was released earlier this month. But then last week, it was pushed out by Goosebumps. Now with $15.9 million in ticket sales, The Martian is back on top. Goosebumps came in a close second this week with $15.5 million.
Bridge Of Spies nabbed third place with $11.4 million, followed by the new Vin Diesel movie, The Last Witch Hunter, which took fourth with $10.8 million. And Hotel Transylvania 2 secured fifth place with $9 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 were the thriller sequel Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension with $8.2 million for sixth, and Steve Jobs in seventh with $7.3 million. Coming in eighth was Crimson Peak with $5.6 million), followed in ninth place by The Intern with $3.9 million. And just making the Top 10 this weekend was Woodlawn with $3.1 million.
