Monday’s NCAA men’s basketball national championship game between the Kansas Jayhawks and Kentucky Wildcats kicked off with an unconventional national anthem from The Fray.

There have been a number of subpar “Star-Spangled Banner” renditions recently, and The Fray’s guitar-drum-tambourine version seems to have sparked a lot of backlash online.

A lot of people don’t seem to think it worked, although it’s worth pointing out that the crowd inside the Superdome in New Orleans seemed to enjoy it.
