(Paramount)

Low-budget horror flick The Devil Inside debuted on top of the box office heap, and won the weekend with an early January record-breaking $34.5 million.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-wrecked took fourth and fifth places with $11.4 million and $9.5 million, respectively.

Rounding out the Top 10 were War Horse ($8.6 million), We Bought a Zoo ($8.5 million), The Adventures of Tintin ($6.6 million), Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy ($5.8 million), and celebrity extravaganza New Year’s Eve ($3.3 million).

This was a scary good movie, but it has an abrupt ending. You’ll either love it or hate it.
I liked it, but some people sitting around me didn’t.
