Warner Bros. Reportedly Removing Gun Images From Dark Knight Trailers

(Warner Bros.)

In response to Friday’s shooting massacre during a showing of The Dark Knight Rises, Warner Bros. is reportedly removing all gun references from the film’s trailer.

A number of scenes in the TV spots advertising the highly-anticipated movie showcase gun use, by Christian Bale’s Batman and other characters.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, 12 moviegoers were killed and another 59 were injured when alleged gunman James Holmes opened fire in an Aurora, Colorado theater shortly after midnight.

New trailers without the gun scenes will be released as soon as possible, according to TMZ.

Gossip Cop has reached out to reps for Warner Bros. for confirmation.

Earlier Friday, Warner Bros. confirmed it pulled Gangster Squad trailers from theaters because, in a horrifying coincidence, it depicted several gunmen going on a shooting spree inside a movie theater.

    You want to stop this?

Allow concealed carry in the theaters.

You only get 70 shot when there is no one to shoot back.

  • LadyK

Yes because the logical thing to deal with guns is to have more guns… Please throw some more wood on that giant blazing fire.

    Moron.

  • Mjolnir Hammerschlag

Sooooo…. the gun control that holds sway in DC causes the high body counts, but across the river, in Virginia, where citizens are armed, it’s the bad guys wearing the toe tags.

And, in almost every stinking Mass Public Shooting, from Luby’s, Columbine, Jonesboro, Long Island Rail Road, Va Tech, the Empire State Observation Deck and many, many more, GUN CONTROL WAS IN PLACE.

    You think it still works?

    You are the moron.

  • waddle

well psychopaths who do things like this are going to get the guns anyway so why not let the people who will use the guns for good, like disarming men like this, have them? you are obviously a person who has never been around guns in a responsible matter. guns are not bad and if there were someone in there who was a good person with a gun there would’ve been a lot less injured/dead people. you LadyK are the moron not mjoinir

The way Holmes was dressed, the Police thought, at first that he was a member of S.W.A.T. There was a cop there in 1minute & 30 second after the 911 call. He was trained for that type of situation, but even still, HE couldn’t tell who was doing the shooting.
When Holmes through the tear gas canisters into theatre #9, no one could see anyone else until it ran out & people were actually able to see what was happening, rather than just *hearing* it.

And you want people to be able to carry concealed/unconcealed guns in theaters?! Take a moment to think about this: over 100 (I can’t remember the exact total) people, a lot of who are carrying a gun that horrible night… I think this would have led to many more deaths of innocent people, rather than allowing someone to be a hero by shooting at Holmes.
First off, people couldn’t SEE, and secondly, Holmes was in body armor better than most cops have!

Either way, guns are violent things; no matter who is holding them. If we really did have stricter gun control like other countries this wouldn’t be such an issue. These sort of tragedies happen way to often. People need to stop being so violent. (And to both of you. Stop with the name calling, its stuff like that that can make people violent. =_=; sheesh. )

  • Kaira

Seriously, calling people morons is just going to make things worse. Just stop.

Ronnie Reagan addressed arguments like yours:

“Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn’t so.”

Did you know that armed Americans defend themselves against violent crime about 2.5 million times each year?

Did you know that a competent shooter can easily hit a six inch target from 30 feet away, not much larger than the shooters’ exposed face, and considerably smaller than his unarmored thighs or back of his legs.

The facts of armed self defense contradict your theory. Americans defend themselves in dark alleys and unlit streets every night, bedrooms and so forth.

My sense of it is that you rail against the possibility that a successful argument for self defense will disturb the Leftist narrative in favor of disarmament that you are willing to sacrifice the lives of all those who had been shot in Aurora, at Va Tech, at Luby’s Cafeteria, at the Empire State Observation Deck, Columbine, Jonesboro and all those other locations of massacres — ALL OF WHICH HAD STRICT GUN CONTROL IN PLACE.

No, I want people to be able to carry concealed weapons everywhere. Because not all shootings happen in the middle of a dark theater with tear gas. I have been around guns my ENTIRE life. My father, however, was a smart enough man to teach me gun safety, causing me to know the benefits of a gun in it’s proper setting. Any person who is allowed to legally carry a gun has to go through gun safety causing them to know the proper way to handle their guns and disarm a person. My father, who is a cop, has carried a gun with him everywhere as long as I remember. When I asked him why he carried a gun even to church he told me a story about a guy, another cop, who dropped his daughter off at Sunday School and while he was still there someone shot and killed his daughter. Had that man had a gun he could have prevented his little girl dying. So, before saying that someone there should be no concealed carried because there’d be more deaths, do your research. And to Kiara, the violence of a gun does depend who hold it, because most of the people who have them will never have to discharge it and use it on another person. Most people will just use for a sense of security, hunting, or target practice, so if they ever have to use it they will be prepared.

First off, I don’t know how you and Mjolnil read my comment and decided I was a Liberal – I’m actually quite conservative. I’m also PRO guns. We are in the process of getting my frail mother one right now, along with a concealed weapon license.

You need to re-read what I wrote. All I said was that IMO, if there were other guns &
I was only saying that if people started shooting back in that theatre, I believe a lot more innocent people would have been killed, not due to ineptitude, but due to the tear gas and the darkness. And again, I mention the body armor – anyone shooting at him would have been murdered…

And my son is an MP in the Navy, since you’re sharing personal stories. On his next leave he’s going to take me shooting.

  • Miss Suzanne

“a competent shooter can easily hit a six inch target from 30 feet away, not much larger than the shooters’ exposed face, and considerably smaller than his unarmored thighs or back of his legs.”

And yes, I’m completely aware that of this. My son is a SHARP SHOOTER. But the average person isn’t that great of a shot, and if they’ve taken any police self defense classes, hell – just about any self defense class – they teach you to go for the biggest target: the torso.

“The facts of armed self defense contradict your theory.”

Did you even read my post?  Jeez, it wasn’t a theory, it was an opinion.  And I wasn’t talking about protecting ourselves in a dark ally.  I was talking SPECIFICALLY about THIS movie theatre case.

“My sense of it is that you rail against the possibility that a successful argument for self defense will disturb the Leftist narrative in favor of disarmament that you are willing to sacrifice the lives of all those who had been shot in Aurora, at Va Tech, at Luby’s Cafeteria, at the Empire State Observation Deck, Columbine, Jonesboro and all those other locations of massacres — ALL OF WHICH HAD STRICT GUN CONTROL IN PLACE.”

First off, I didn’t “rail” about anything.  So, your “senses” are WAY off.
    I don’t have a “leftist argument” because I’m a Republican.

Man, you’re really full of yourself, aren’t you, you pompous dick.  I like how you throw around your $5 words, trying to make yourself look smart by putting me down.  Sad.
And don’t talk to ME about Columbine.  I was there the next day on a press pass.  I sat In a trailer with 3 little girls who had seen everything, but had hid themselves and managed to stay alive.  So go to hell, you arrogant, judgmental bastard.  You’re just talking out of your ass.

Oh, and if I were you?  I wouldn’t rely too much on your “senses”….

  • Mjolnir Hammerschlag

So you counsel that we cower in fear and rely on the cops who dressed up and then waited outside for hours.

You whine and snivel and have no answers.

    The answer is clear.

    You shoot back.

  • Mjolnir Hammerschlag

Kiara, the brand new profile of three posts, most likely someone already here under another name, you don’t need me to call you a fool. It’s your state of being. Even if I did not exist, you would still be a fool.

    How do we know this?

Because of the wildly-uninformed things you write.

    Have you ever traveled overseas?

Even been to Kosovo, where unarmed civilians were slaughtered by roving Muslim terrorists (KLA / UCK)? Or seen the thousands hacked to bits in Rwanda, because they didn’t have arms to defend themselves?

Or tour the killing fields of Southeast Asia, where the intelligentsia from South Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia were slaughtered by the million by the government? It’s a tragedy that has been played out again and again and again. Those who are unarmed are slaughtered by those who have guns.

The trick is, never let someone disarm you.

Even if you have not traveled, you can still read. Go read The Black Book of Communism by Stephane Courtois, cataloging the 100 Million innocents murdered by Socialist governments, or worse yet, visit the DEMOCIDE website by Professor R.J. Rummel of the University of Hawaii, who details how armed governments have killed about 270 million civilians during the last century.

The Founders studied tyranny and they were, to a man, dead-set against a governmental monopoly on weapons, because in the end, all power emerges from the muzzle of a gun.

“Inter arma silent leges” (while guns fire, the laws are useless).

The Constitution was written that the citizens be armed. Not just for their own protection against murderers like Holmes, but against tyrants who would seize power for themselves.

You have much to learn from history.
