“The Boss” Beats “Batman V Superman” For Number One At Weekend Box Office
The Boss pushed Batman V Superman out of the number one spot at the box office. As Gossip Cop reported, Batman V Superman had a record-breaking opening late last month, but experienced a nearly 70 percent drop the following week. Now for its third weekend, the superheroes were brought to their knees by Melissa McCarthy’s The Boss, which nabbed the top spot with $23.5 million.
That was enough to edge out Batman V Superman, which came in a close but disappointing second with $23.4 million. Securing third once again was Zootopia with $14.4 in ticket sales. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 earned fourth place with just $6.4 million, while the new movie Hardcore Henry took fifth with $5.1 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 was Jennifer Garner’s Miracles From Heaven with $4.8 million for the sixth spot. And a box office haul of $4.3 million gave God’s Not Dead 2 a seventh place finish. Meanwhile, Allegiant took eighth with $3.4 million, and 10 Cloverfield Lane was in ninth place with $3 million. Just making it into the Top 10 was Eye In The Sky. The film earned $2.8 million at the box office.
