‘The Bachelorette’ Recap: JoJo Fletcher Hits Uruguay, Sends Five Home
JoJo Fletcher took the men to Punta del Este, Uruguay, where she had two one-on-one dates and a group date, but first the guys had one last run-in with Chad. In the end, five men were sent home. Get the full recap below of episode five of this season’s “The Bachelorette.”
Monday’s episode began with the remaining guys high-fiving that Chad was sent home, but the celebration was brief because this season’s villain returned to the Pennsylvania house they were staying in to cause more trouble and confront the other men. Eventually, after exchanging some words with the other bachelors, Chad finally left.
After Chad was gone, it was time for two more men to say their farewells at the rose ceremony. The two guys who didn’t get roses were Daniel from Canada and James F. from Nashville. Following their goodbyes, it was time for the 11 remaining men to head to the beach town of Punta del Este, Uruguay.
While there, JoJo first went on a one-on-one date with Jordan, and took a yacht to Isla de Lobos, where they swam with seals and kissed in the water. Before dinner that night, Jordan confided that he was “falling in love” with her. And while JoJo likes him, too, the Bachelorette told him that she met one of his ex-girlfriends who said he cheated on her. Jo Jo admitted, “I’m scared of getting my heart broken.” After they talked for a bit and Jordan acknowledged he “wasn’t the best boyfriend,” the two made out and, of course, he got a rose.
JoJo also had to set the record straight on Monday’s show when she read an In Touch story that claimed she possibly still had feelings for her ex-boyfriend. When the remaining men saw the tabloid tale when she wasn’t around, they questioned her motives for being on the show and whether any of them even had a legitimate chance of being with her. JoJo then met the bachelors, and told them through tears how that ex-boyfriend “brought me to a bad place.” She also stressed, “I don’t want anyone to think I m faking this,” and assured the guys she was looking for a husband.
Next, JoJo took Alex, Chase, Derek, Evan, Grant, James Taylor, Luke, Vinny, and Wells on a group date during which they went sand surfing. Rain, however, interrupted the date and so they headed indoors, where she kissed a number of the men. At the end of the date, Derek got a rose, which annoyed Alex, who started to become jealous.
JoJo then embarked on a one-on-one date with Robby. On their date, they drove through the town of Punta del Este, and ate sandwiches outdoors. JoJo and Robby next stripped down to their bathing suits and jumped off a cliff into the ocean.
That night, they shared a romantic dinner during which Robby explained that after his best buddy died in a car accident, he decided to live everyday to the fullest. He then told the Bachelorette that he was in love with her. After they kissed for a bit, JoJo gave him a rose. The evening ended with the two making out on a beach, as fireworks burst above them.
The Bachelorette nixed the cocktail reception, and instead went straight into the rose ceremony. Even with his nemesis Chad gone, it wasn’t safe for Evan. He was sent home, along with Vinny and Grant. All three men cried afterwards.
