‘The Bachelorette’ Recap: JoJo Fletcher Fantasy Suite Dates, Final Two Revealed
JoJo Fletcher went on her three Fantasy Suite dates in Thailand. But before that, she eliminated one last man at a rose ceremony following the hometown dates. Get the full recap below of episode nine of this season’s “The Bachelorette.”
Monday’s episode picked up from the last show’s rose ceremony, where JoJo was about to send Luke home, but he pulled her aside to tell her he was falling in love with the Bachelorette. And while she had a freakout by his declaration, ultimately she didn’t feel a strong enough connection to him, and Luke was eliminated. “You didn’t want me anymore,” a stunned Luke said standing by the car that drove him away.
The three remaining men were Chase, Jordan, and Robby, and each would have a final date and shot at the Fantasy Suite with JoJo in Hua Hin, Thailand. For her first date in Thailand, JoJo and Robby enjoyed walking through the streets of Hua Hin. They went through a local market and even got a massage, where Robby said he fell even more in love with her during the hometown date because he saw how she could fit in with his family.
Over dinner, Robby gave JoJo a letter to signify his love for her. He explained that it was “in case you have any doubt or concerns” in the future. That led her to invite him to an overnight in the Fantasy Suite, which he “gladly” accepted. Before Robby put a do not disturb sign on their hotel room, the Bachelorette noted in a confessional, “I’m so sure how I feel” about Robby. In the morning, the two were very lovey-dovey, but JoJo was privately confused because while she felt she was falling even more for Robby, the Bachelorette admitted she cared for all three men.
JoJo then went on a date with Jordan. The two trekked up a mountain until they reached a temple in a cave. After talking about their future, they wanted to kiss but couldn’t because it would be sacrilegious in the temple. It was tough, she said in voice-over, because she revealed, “I can’t help myself around Jordan.” JoJo also said, “I’m definitely falling in love with Jordan.”
When the Bachelorette asked Jordan about how he sees their future, he flounders by saying he doesn’t know. That was not the answer JoJo wanted to hear. He later blurted, “I want to spent the rest of my life with you,” to which JoJo shot back, “That’s what Ben [Higgins] said.” Jordan continued to reassure the Bachelorette that he loves her.
It worked because JoJo gave him an invite to the Fantasy Suite, to which he unsurprisingly said “yes.” She said in a voiceover as the two were about to get in bed, “I love him.” The following morning, JoJo called their time together “perfect.” As she left, JoJo claimed in voice-over that it was “scary to think I’m in one with two people now.”
On her third and final date, JoJo and Chase took a boat ride to a secluded beach. As they sat on the sand, she told Chase, “You blew me away” on the hometown date. They kissed a lot on the beach before going into the water and kissing more.
But before JoJo could get ready for her dinner with Chase, Robby unexpectedly stopped by her hotel room, where he told her, “I keep thinking about you.” In between kissing the Bachelorette, he said, “I’m ready for us… for a family… to be your husband.” And while JoJo was happy to see him, she pointed out, “I am in the middle of a date.”
During her dinner with Chase, he expressed, “I want a future for us.” He also got an invite into the Fantasy Suite. While inside her room, they kissed and drank champagne, and he told her, “I love you,” a phrase he said he’s never told anyone before. But the Bachelorette was not feeling it, and went outside to think.
When she got back inside, JoJo told Chase, “I don’t think I’m in the same place as you,” adding, “I don’t know if spending this night together would change this feeling.” He said he was “shattered” before getting annoyed with her for never giving it a chance. Chase was then sent home.
In tears, JoJo basically said if she had met him outside the show, and without the other guys, it may have worked. “You are everything that I could have ever wanted,” she bawled. He then got up, gave her a hug and then walked off, as she continued crying. Outside, Chase told JoJo that she broke his heart, and that it was like being “kicked in the nuts.” He next got into a waiting van, which he dubbed his “Fantasy Suite car.”
At the rose ceremony, Jordan and Robby figured something was up when Chase was not there. But for added drama, Chase returned, asking if he could talk to JoJo. It didn’t change anything, of course, but he got the opportunity to apologize for being “angry.”
