The Avengers Shatters Box Office Record With $207 Million Opening Weekend

BOX OFFICE

(Marvel)

It was a MASSIVE, record-breaking weekend for The Avengers.

The long-awaited, hugely hyped and critically praised superhero extravaganza broke the box office record with a debut of $207 million, obliterating the competition.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 ($169 million) was the current all-time record-holder, but The Avengers topped it, along with The Dark Knight ($158 million) and The Hunger Games ($152 million).

Meanwhile, coming in a very distant second was Think Like A Man with a weekend take of $8 million.

Nabbing third was The Hunger Game with $5.7 million.

Coming in fourth and fifth places were The Lucky One and Pirates! Band of Misfits with $5.5 million and $5.4 million, respectively.

Round out the Top 10 were The Five-Year Engagement ($5.1 million), The Raven ($2.5 million), Safe (2.5 million), Chimpanzee ($2.4 million) and The Three Stooges ($1.8 million).

people need to learn again to be entertained by films i honestly believe that critics took the fun out of enjoying films gotta tell you just in case you are overly influenced by film critics , i dont know but you are the only person that has called it boring or predictable, just simply sit back watch and be entertained sweetheart that what films are for , everything can be enjoyed if people free their minds

Sorry Jace – - This was not a good movie and my opinion has NOTHING to do with what the critics had to say. As a matter of fact, I don’t know their view on this movie. I think it was way over-hyped, predictable, and corny.

  • Kaitlyn

Went to the theater with some friends, only 2 get sold out. :(

  • Jace

i repeat you americans need to learn to enjoy films again or at least think abt the trouble these people do to get the public entertained, forget those damn words and just enjoy its so easy

  • Monique

Agreed. In my opinion and everyone else that I know, that is the best movie of the year. The action, the punch lines, everything was great. And these actors/actresses put in a lot of work to get this movie to done and with $200 million on opening weekend, I think the hard work paid off

It wasn’t very over hyped out in Australia. Also, Avengers wasn’t that cheesy compare to the other movies that Marvel had done. It did have a Transformer feel to it though. :/

Wow um how was it predicable seriously wow learn what are good movies and what are bad just saying becuase this movie was over the top and amazing and great acting and NO IT WAS NOT PREDICABLE WHAT did you write the movie or something ?

  • Sadiedog_123
