The 1975 Saturday Night Live

The 1975 performed “Love Me” on this week’s “SNL” as their second song. For their first song, they sang “The Sound.” “Love Me” is the first single off their new album I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It. See the video below of The 1975’s performance of “Love Me” on “Saturday Night Live.”

As Gossip Cop noted earlier, this marks the musical debut of The 1975 on “Saturday Night Live.” The video for “Love Me” features the band performing the song on stage, surrounded by cardboard cutouts of pop culture figures, including Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, Elvis Presley and James Dean. At different points in the video, the 1975’s shirtless frontman Matt Healy serves Presley a glass of champagne and kisses the cutout of Styles.

As Gossip Cop reported, Healy previously pulled a huge prank on Styles while he was a guest on Nick Grimshaw’s BBC Radio show in 2014. The 1975’s lead singer called Styles and said he had “an emergency.” He told the One Direction singer it was a “quite serious situation” in which he was being “threatened” by thugs and needed $5,000 immediately. To Styles credit, before even knowing it was a prank, he told Healy he would help “sort it out.”
